This month, Spiceworks released the latest version a new IT management application called Spiceworks IT Desktop that allows IT managers to inventory their networks. The Windows-based application can discover IP-based devices on the network and identify the software, patches, and services on those machines. But along with the facts about their network, Spiceworks users will see ads provided by Google. The sponsored nature of the software means the company can offer it free of charge (though it comes with a proprietary license).
